Jr Doctors announce 'hunger strike' from today, says demands not met
In a surprising turn of events at the Patna opposition unity event held at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's official residence, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad advised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to consider getting married at the earliest opportunity.
The comment came during the press briefing following the conclusion of the opposition meeting.
Lalu Prasad commended the 53-year-old former Congress president for his Bharat Jodo Yatra, a nationwide journey undertaken by Gandhi, and praised his efforts in raising important issues such as the Adani group controversy in parliament.
However, Mr. Kumar interrupted and humorously pointed out that Gandhi had grown a beard during his Yatra.
As the final speaker at the event, the former Chief Minister of Bihar took the opportunity to advise Rahul Gandhi to trim his beard, suggesting that even Nitish Kumar wanted him to keep a shorter beard. Lalu Prasad jokingly mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's consistently bearded appearance as a contrast.
Displaying his close association with the Gandhi family, Lalu Prasad revealed that he had previously advised Rahul Gandhi to consider marriage, to which Gandhi had not paid much attention. Lalu Prasad expressed his hope that Gandhi would take his advice seriously, stating that they would gladly attend his wedding as Baratis (groom's side).
In response, Rahul Gandhi, with a smile on his face, assured Lalu Prasad that his suggestion would be considered seriously and acted upon. Lalu Prasad playfully reiterated his call for Gandhi to get married, emphasizing the wishes of Gandhi's mother, who had expressed a desire for him to settle down.
