BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Tensions escalated sharply in Falta, South 24 Parganas, during the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on Wednesday. In Belsingh village, located within the Falta-2 Gram Panchayat, voters and security personnel clashed, leading to serious allegations of a lathi-charge against those standing in line to vote.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has formally accused the central forces of using unnecessary force, specifically claiming that women voters were among those targeted by the security personnel. The incident surfaced after a video went viral, showing central forces raising batons to disperse a crowd near a polling booth.
According to the Trinamool Congress, the situation was peaceful until security forces intervened, resulting in chaos and alleged physical assault on civilians. The party has vehemently protested the use of force, calling it an attempt to intimidate voters and disrupt the democratic process in what is considered a critical electoral constituency.
