Trinamool leaders Firhad, Kunal reach Nabanna to attend CM's meeting; Rebel MLAs also present

The political landscape of West Bengal has witnessed a historic shift just a month after the change in power. In a move unseen for 15 years, MLAs from the opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) attended an administrative meeting called by Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari at Nabanna. The meeting, focused on Kolkata, Howrah, and South 24 Parganas, saw a rare convergence of rival factions sitting together for governance.

The session was marked by the presence of two distinct TMC groups. The "rebel" camp, led by Ritabrata and comprising 58 agitating MLAs, arrived after formalizing their dissent in the Assembly. This group had already indicated their intent to cooperate with the state's administrative process. However, the real surprise was the arrival of TMC members previously seen as staunch supporters of Mamata Banerjee, such as Firhad Hakim, Kunal Ghosh, and Naina Banerjee.

Kunal Ghosh, when questioned about his attendance, emphasized his role as an elected representative over party lines. He stated that since the Chief Minister called an administrative meeting, he attended in his capacity as an MLA of the opposition party. This participation suggests a softening of the rigid political boundaries that characterized the previous era, where opposition presence in such meetings was virtually non-existent.
