Trinamool leader's murder case: Police detained seven people

In Navagram police station area of the district, the police of Navagram police station have detained seven people in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress Zonal President Mozammel Sheikh. All of them are known as Congress workers in the area.

According to the information received, Mozammel Shaikh had gone for election campaign in Hajbibidanga village under Navgram police station on Thursday night. During that time he was murdered. Several Trinamool Congress workers were injured in the attack by Congress workers.

According to police sources, seven people have been detained till Friday morning on suspicion of involvement in the murder. A police picket has been set up in view of the tension in the area following the murder of the Trinamool leader.

Navagram Trinamool Congress MLA Kannai Chandra Mandal said that the Congress is trying to spread terror in the area ahead of the panchayat elections. On Friday, Trinamool workers protested against the killing of party leader Mozammel Shaikh by wearing black armbands.
