Late Friday night, tension erupted in the Tetultalar Ghat area of Chakmaricha, Bhangar No. 2 block, after the Trinamool Congress party office was allegedly set on fire and vandalised. Local Trinamool leaders accused supporters of the Indian Secular Front (ISF) of orchestrating the attack, although no official response has come from the ISF yet.
According to reports, the attackers not only set fire to the party office but also tore and burnt photographs of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, and local MLA Shaukat Mollah. Several party materials were destroyed, and even a carrom board was broken and thrown into a nearby canal.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from North Kashipur police station rushed to the scene. A large police force was deployed to cordon off the area, and an intensive investigation has been launched to trace the culprits and understand the motive behind the attack.
The Trinamool leadership has alleged that this act was not random violence but part of a larger political conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the region ahead of crucial political developments. Party leaders have demanded strict action against those responsible and a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of opposition supporters.
Meanwhile, administrative officials have also started their independent probe into the sequence of events leading to the arson and vandalism. They are examining eyewitness accounts, local CCTV footage, and possible political links to the incident.
While Bhangar has witnessed political clashes in the past, Friday night’s incident has reignited tensions between rival camps. Authorities have appealed for calm and warned that any further attempts to disturb the peace will be met with strict action.
