The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has officially boycotted the all-party meeting convened by the Central Government on Wednesday to discuss the escalating crisis in West Asia. Despite the meeting being a response to a long-standing demand from the Opposition for transparency on the Iran-US conflict, Mamata Banerjee’s party chose to stay away.
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was intended to brief political leaders on the regional conflict's impact on India’s energy security and essential services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously addressed both Houses of Parliament, noting that the three-week-long war had triggered a global energy crisis.
He also announced the formation of seven high-level empowered groups to monitor the supply of LPG and other essential commodities, ensuring that the domestic impact remains minimal despite the prolonged unpredictability of the situation.
