Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
In a devastating accident on the National Highway in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, 11 people lost their lives, while 12 others sustained injuries. The incident occurred in the early hours as a bus, en route from Pushkar, Rajasthan, to Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, collided with a speeding truck.
The incident took place when the bus had come to a halt on a bridge, experiencing mechanical problems. A survivor recounted that during this stop, the bus driver and some passengers were positioned behind the stranded vehicle when the truck, traveling at high speed, collided with it.
The bus, stranded at the Antra flyover in the Lakhanpur area due to fuel depletion, suffered the severe impact from the rear by the oncoming truck. Five men and six women lost their lives instantly in the collision.
Local authorities have registered a case and are actively investigating the accident to determine the exact cause and circumstances.
Reacting to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured victims. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his grief and offered condolences to the affected families on X.
