The body of a 27-year-old truck driver, Raju Patel alias Futun, was found floating in Meethatalab, behind DPS Ruby Park, on Saturday morning. Patel, a resident of East Champaran, Bihar, had arrived in Kasba to celebrate Holi. His cousin, Sonu Roy (27), identified the body after locals spotted it around 11:30 AM and alerted the police. Patel’s clothes and mobile phone were recovered from the pond’s edge.
According to his family, Patel had gone to the pond around 9 PM on Friday for a bath but did not return. After failing to locate him, they continued searching overnight. The next morning, local residents noticed his body in the water and informed authorities. A team from Kasba Police Station retrieved the body as a crowd gathered at the site. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and are questioning locals for further details. No external injuries were immediately visible, but officials are examining all angles, including the possibility of an accident. Patel was a truck driver by profession, and his family members have been informed. The police are also checking if any security cameras in the area captured his movements before the incident.
