Truck hits auto killing 3 school kids, several injured

A fatal road accident occurred in the Gola police station area of Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, on the morning of January 8. A truck, loaded with potatoes, collided head-on with an auto rickshaw carrying schoolchildren. The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of three schoolchildren and the auto driver. The impact was so severe that the truck dragged the auto for some distance before overturning. The victims, including the driver and three children, died on the spot, while more than six other children sustained serious injuries.

The injured children were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where their conditions were reported as critical. Authorities confirmed that the truck driver was also severely injured in the incident. Eyewitnesses stated that the truck, after hitting the auto, continued to drag it for several meters, causing extensive damage and increasing the severity of the crash. The road was blocked by local residents, who gathered at the accident site in protest, disrupting traffic on the Ramgarh-Bokaro highway.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, and Ramgarh SP Ajay Kumar provided details about the accident, confirming that the schoolchildren were on their way to school at the time of the crash. Local residents have expressed anger over the safety of school transport and have called for stronger measures to ensure the safety of students. Authorities are currently assessing the exact cause of the collision, and further action will be taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
