Tutor rapes class 8 girl, threatens to leak nudes in Bengal, arrested

A tutor in South 24 Parganas's Canning area has been arrested for allegedly raping an eighth grade student after capturing her nude photos and videos on her mobile phone to blackmail her. The student, a resident of the Canning area, was sent by her family for private tuition with the young man, who promised marriage while forcing physical relations and torturing her with threats to make the compromising material viral. Too scared to confide in anyone, the girl continued attending classes until Saturday evening, when the tutor took her to a deserted field after tuition for another assault.​

Suspicious locals spotted the pair in the field, rushed to the scene, and rescued the girl while the accused fled. Villagers chased and caught the tutor shortly after, handing him over to authorities along with the rescued student. That night, the girl's family lodged a formal written complaint at Canning police station, detailing the repeated rapes, blackmail, and latest attempt. Police swiftly arrested the accused and began investigating the allegations.​

The shameful incident has sparked outrage in the community, highlighting vulnerabilities in private tuition setups where trusted tutors exploit young students. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections, with the probe focusing on the timeline of abuse, recovery of digital evidence from the phone, and witness statements from locals. The girl is receiving counselling and support as the investigation continues.
