The Narcotics Cell and Detective Department of Kolkata Police arrested two men late on Monday night on charges of drug trafficking. Acting on a tip-off, police teams were deployed across different parts of the city after receiving information that heroin was being transported from Palashi in Nadia district to Kolkata on a Bullet motorcycle for supply.
Police intercepted a Bullet bike in front of the post office gate of SSKM Hospital on AJC Bose Road and detained two suspects. The arrested men were identified as Shubhankar and Saurav Pradhan alias Kasai, both residents of the Parnasree area. Their search was conducted in the presence of legal formalities and video recording.
During the search, police recovered around 760 grams of a grey powdery substance suspected to be heroin. Officers also seized three mobile phones, ₹1,530 in cash, and the Bullet motorcycle used in transportation. Both accused were taken into custody for further legal action.
