Farakka’s Ballalpur area saw a major road accident on Tuesday night when a high-speed lorry, an engine van, and a motorcycle collided on National Highway 12. The crash was severe, resulting in the immediate death of two people. The identities of the deceased have not been confirmed.
Sources reported that the engine van involved in the accident was carrying employees of the electricity department. Six other individuals sustained serious injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Farakka police reached the accident site soon after the incident, secured the area, and sent the bodies to Jangipur Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The collision caused significant traffic congestion along NH-12, which was gradually cleared with police assistance. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including vehicle speed and road conditions, to determine the cause and prevent further incidents.
