Two fatalities reported in Bengal's Balurghat, one unidentified and one local worker

Two fatalities have been reported in Balurghat, involving an unidentified man and a local lorry worker. On the afternoon of the incident, locals discovered the body of an unidentified man in the Atryayi River, located near the Khidirpur railway bridge. The police were notified, and upon their arrival, they recovered the body and transported it to Balurghat District Hospital for an autopsy. In a separate incident, Enamul Mandal, a 37-year-old lorry worker, died after being crushed under a truck loaded with stones. This accident occurred around noon on Sunday in the Badamaile Jorkuri area of the Amritkhund gram panchayat. Reports indicate that the truck was being weighed at a warehouse when Enamul, who worked as a loader, fell while attempting to board the vehicle. The truck, which was reportedly in the process of leaving the warehouse after being weighed, ran over him, resulting in immediate death at the scene. Following the accident, his body was also sent to Balurghat District Hospital for an autopsy.

Witnesses to the incident reported that the truck driver fled the scene shortly after the accident. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Enamul was engaged in his duties as a loader when the incident occurred, and there may have been issues with securing the truck before it began moving. Enamul's brother filed a written complaint with the Balurghat police, which prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police have begun gathering statements from witnesses and reviewing footage from local CCTV cameras to gain further insights.
