Two Indian youths, Philip Soren (34) and Avinash Tudu (23), were allegedly abducted by Bangladeshi miscreants near the zero point along the India-Bangladesh border in Anantpur village under Gangarampur police station. The incident occurred when the two men went to irrigate farmland located beyond the barbed wire fence but still within Indian territory. After completing irrigation work, they were reportedly resting under a tree near the border when unidentified Bangladeshi individuals forcibly covered their faces and took them across the border.
According to local residents, several villagers in Anantpur own land situated beyond the fencing but within the Indian boundary, and they routinely cross the fence under BSF supervision to tend to their fields. The incident has caused unrest in the border village, with family members and locals demanding immediate intervention. Villagers have stated that this is the first time such an incident has occurred in their area and have urged authorities to ensure the safe and swift return of the two youths.
Following the incident, a flag meeting has been initiated between Indian and Bangladeshi border forces to address the situation. Security in the surrounding areas has been tightened, and officials are reportedly in touch with their Bangladeshi counterparts to verify the identity of the abductors and secure the release of the youths. No official statement on the outcome of the meeting or the current whereabouts of the abducted individuals has been released yet.
