Abhishek slaps 10-crore defamation notice on Madan Mitra over 'murderer' jibe
A divorced woman from Shantipur in Nadia has alleged that two men repeatedly sexually assaulted her after luring her with the promise of a job and later blackmailed her by threatening to leak explicit photographs and videos. According to her complaint, the accused also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incidents. Acting on the complaint, police arrested both accused within 12 hours, and they are scheduled to be produced before a court on Wednesday.
According to the complaint, the woman had approached Shekhar Biswas, a resident of Babla-Gobindpur South Kayasthapara, in search of employment. She alleged that Shekhar introduced her to Manik Debnath, the owner of an almirah manufacturing unit, and later called her to different locations on the pretext of arranging work. The woman alleged that Shekhar repeatedly sexually assaulted her at a hotel and recorded explicit photographs and videos. She further alleged that Manik Debnath also sexually assaulted her, recorded explicit content, and joined in threatening to circulate the material on social media and kill her if she informed anyone.
Unable to remain silent any longer, the woman approached Shantipur Police Station and lodged a complaint. Police launched an investigation and arrested both accused within 12 hours of receiving the complaint. The woman has sought the strictest legal action against the accused.
