Two murdered in Cooch Behar – Son suspected of killing father and uncle

A chilling discovery was made on Monday morning in Cooch Behar’s Dawaigori area when two bodies were found inside a house. The discovery began when a local fish vendor, while passing by, noticed blood splatters inside an unoccupied room. Concerned, the vendor alerted neighbors, who then broke open the locked door to investigate. Inside, they found the body of 70-year-old Bijoy Baishya, wrapped in a blanket inside a showcase. Blood was found on the floor and other areas of the room.

Upon arriving at the scene, police conducted an immediate search of the property. They found another body – that of 60-year-old Gopal Baishya, Bijoy’s brother, in the septic tank outside the house. According to local sources, Gopal had been missing for about a month, though no formal missing person report had been filed. His body was discovered several feet below the surface of the septic tank.

The police have initiated an investigation into the double murder. While the exact cause of death for both victims has not been confirmed, evidence at the scene suggests both men may have been killed by violent means. The authorities suspect that Pranab Baishya, the son of Bijoy, may be responsible for the murders. Pranab, who is currently missing, had reportedly been living with his father at the time of the incident.

Neighbors disclosed that there had been ongoing tension between Pranab and Bijoy, with reports of verbal and physical abuse in the past. The police are continuing their search for Pranab, who has been evading capture since the bodies were found. Investigators are also examining potential motives, including financial disputes or personal grievances. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to piece together the events leading to the deaths of the two men.
