"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
In a tragic incident in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, two sisters allegedly died by suicide just hours before they were scheduled to get married in a joint wedding ceremony on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Shobha (25) and Vimla (23), were daughters of Deep Singh and worked as teachers at a private school. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to their deaths.
According to preliminary findings, the sisters are suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance in the early hours of Saturday. However, officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received. A police officer stated that it would be premature to ascertain the precise reason behind the deaths at this stage.
Family members reportedly rushed the women to a private hospital after their health deteriorated, but doctors declared them dead on arrival. Preparations for their cremation had begun when police received information about the incident and intervened, taking the bodies into custody for further examination.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced regarding possible pressure from within the family. The sisters’ maternal uncle, Jaswant Singh, has alleged that members from their father’s side exerted pressure over marriage arrangements that had earlier fallen through.
He further claimed that the sisters were distressed due to pressure allegedly exerted by Deep Singh’s younger brother. Police said these allegations are being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the deaths.
