A shocking incident of family violence rocked Howrah's Jagatballabhpur area on Friday after two sons allegedly killed their father during a violent argument over property. The victim was brutally attacked with bricks in the courtyard of their home, leading to his death on the spot.
According to locals, a dispute had been simmering within the family over land division for quite some time. On the day of the incident, the quarrel turned into a deadly assault. When the elderly man's wife tried to intervene, she was reportedly assaulted by her daughters-in-law.
The brutality of the act and the fact that it unfolded within the family has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood. Neighbours rushed in after hearing screams but were too late to save the man. Police have taken the accused into custody and an investigation is underway.
Locals say the family had ongoing tension over ancestral property and had refused several settlement attempts by community elders. Authorities are now also investigating if the attack was premeditated.
