Trinamool Congress leader Razzak Khan was shot dead in Bhangar while returning home on a motorcycle with two associates. According to police, the attack took place when armed assailants ambushed them and opened fire. Razzak suffered bullet injuries and had deep wounds on his face and eyes caused by sharp weapons. Four empty cartridges were recovered from the spot.
Police have arrested two party workers after CCTV footage confirmed their presence at the crime scene during the time of the incident. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify all persons involved and determine the motive behind the murder.
Following the incident, tension spread in the Bhangar area. Security forces have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any further unrest. The situation is being closely monitored, especially in view of the upcoming elections, with additional police personnel stationed at sensitive points.
Suspicion has been raised against senior Trinamool Congress leaders Shaukat Molla and Arabul Islam. Arabul, who was previously known to be close to Razzak Khan, said, “I still can’t believe that Razzak is no more. This is a personal loss for me.” Police have not confirmed any charges against either leader and have stated that all angles are being investigated.
