Uccha Madhyamik Results declared, 91.23% pass; Narendrapur's Adrito Pal tops with 496 marks

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the Class 12 board results on Thursday morning, approximately 76 days after the completion of the examinations. This year, the state recorded an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.23%. A total of 6.26 lakh candidates appeared for the exams, which were conducted across four languages—English, Hindi, Bengali, and Santhali. In a notable trend, female students outperformed their male counterparts, securing a pass rate of 92.47% compared to 89.71% for boys.

Adrito Pal from RKM School, Narendrapur, secured the first position in the state with a remarkable score of 496 marks. The second rank was shared by Jishnu Kundu (RKM Vidyapith, Purulia), Ritabrata Nath, and Oitijjha (both from RKM Narendrapur), all scoring 495 marks. The third position was shared by five students, including Debapriya Majhi and Tanmoy Mandal, with 494 marks. Notably, Megha Majumdar from Serampore, Hooghly, emerged as the female topper, ranking fifth overall with 492 marks (98.4%).

In terms of regional performance, Purba Medinipur maintained its streak as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 94.19%. It was followed by Howrah and North 24 Parganas in the second and third spots, respectively. The merit list reflected high academic standards, with 64 students occupying the top ten ranks. The Council also confirmed that detailed topper lists, including those from Santhali, Nepali, and Urdu mediums, will be uploaded to the official website shortly for public access.

This year’s result marks a historic turning point for education in West Bengal. The WBCHSE announced that this was the final year of the annual examination system that has been in place since 1978. Moving forward, the Council will fully embrace a semester-based education system for the 2025-26 academic year. Details regarding the improvement exams for the current batch are expected to be released later today, providing an opportunity for students to enhance their scores.
