UEM collaborates with Aeronautical Society of India for drone exhibition and national seminar

In a collaborative effort led by the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), the Aeronautical Society of India, and the IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association, the UEM Campus in New Town hosted a remarkable Drone Exhibition, UAV, and National Seminar. The event brought together students, researchers, industry professionals, and drone manufacturing companies to explore the diverse applications of drones in public safety and other areas.

The exhibition showcased numerous projects from UEM Jaipur, with a particular focus on autonomous vehicle operations. The attendees engaged in lively discussions on the potential of unmanned vehicles and shared information about various types of drones. With an impressive turnout of around 1,500 people, the program was a resounding success.

Highlighting the event's significance, Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee, Vice Chancellor of UEM Jaipur, expressed his delight at the projects presented by UEM Jaipur and emphasized the potential of vehicles operating without human intervention. He believed that such advancements could revolutionize transportation systems and improve public safety.

Dean of UEM Kolkata, Prof. Dr. Rajeev Ganguly, spoke about the underwater drone, which became the main attraction of the exhibition. The event aimed to create a platform that would demonstrate how drones could simplify the lives of ordinary people. Recognizing the technological prowess of today's youth, the exhibition provided students with an opportunity to enhance their skills and utilize them for the betterment of society.

The National Seminar was inaugurated by the former Governor of Chhattisgarh, HE Shekhar Dutt. He emphasized the historical and modern applications of drones in various sectors, particularly in healthcare. Retired Air Vice Marshal A.K. Bhattacharya and Retired Wing Commander Satyam Kushwaha further expanded on the potential of drones in warfare, discussing how they could reshape society and introduce new possibilities.

Professor Yogesh Bhumkar from IIT Bhubaneswar shed light on the emerging field of underwater drones, highlighting the technical challenges associated with their development. The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the current state and future prospects of drone technology.

One of the highlights of the event was the demonstration of an underwater man-carrying drone by the university students. This impressive feat captivated the attention of the senior dignitaries in attendance, fostering interaction and knowledge exchange.
