A United Nations official last week expressed his displeasure with the service provided by Air India officials, describing it as very poor.
An official who recently boarded a flight from New York to New Delhi took to Twitter about the broken seats and cockroaches during the flight and the lack of "entertainment/call buttons/reading lights". "I have flown all over the world as a UN diplomat but Air India 102 JFK to Delhi was my worst flight experience: broken seats, no entertainment/reading buttons/reading light and cockroaches. Poisonous spray. Ignoring customer care," the diplomat wrote on Twitter.
A UN diplomat on Monday again demanded clarification on how Air India flights arriving from New York have cockroaches near the seats and are severely lacking in any in-flight safety equipment. "Any thoughts and comments on how Air India flights from NY are infested with cockroaches and have non-functioning standard in-flight safety equipment?" wrote the diplomat. After the official's second tweet, Air India apologized for the bad experience and said it would look into the matter.
This is not the first time that passengers on Air India flights have expressed their disappointment over their bad experience. In 2019, Air India came under fire after facing allegations of a dead cockroach in the breakfast served on a flight from Bhopal to Mumbai. The passenger complained that the flight crew ignored him when he informed them about the presence of a dead cockroach in the sambar that was offered at breakfast.
Recently, another Air India passenger complained of finding insects in his food and shared a video of the incident on Twitter. On the same day, Indian celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor complained about the deteriorating quality of food he was served on an Air India flight from Nagpur to Mumbai.
