CM Mamata pushes Aparajita Bill as TMC MPs urge President’s approval
An under-construction building on Christopher Road in Kolkata’s Ward 58 tilted dangerously, raising serious concerns about the stability of ongoing construction projects. The building, which was being constructed next to an existing multi-story residential building, shifted towards the neighboring structure, with almost no gap between the two. This created immediate safety concerns for residents in the adjacent building.
The promoter of the project had hired a Chinese company to assist in straightening the building, which had already tilted during construction. However, the attempt to stabilize the building led to further tilting, making the situation more precarious. The tilt was noticed by locals, and the authorities were promptly informed about the risk of collapse.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s Building Department immediately sent a team to the site to assess the situation. The Department took swift action to secure the area and implement safety measures, preventing any accidents from occurring. Local councillor Sandipan Saha confirmed that the issue was reported to the Building Department and that necessary steps were taken to ensure safety. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and monitoring of ongoing construction projects in the city, and further investigations are being conducted to evaluate the extent of the damage and any potential risks.
