Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal arrived at Bagdogra Airport from Delhi on Saturday to attend the inauguration of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court. The minister’s visit marks the formal commencement of the bench aimed at improving access to justice in northern West Bengal.
Speaking to journalists at the airport, Meghwal commented on the law-and-order situation in the state, stating, “The law-and-order condition in West Bengal is not good at all.” He clarified that his visit was focused on the court inauguration and not related to political matters, while also emphasising the importance of strengthening judicial infrastructure.
On the political front, Meghwal praised the BJP’s recent victory in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, saying it reflects public prioritisation of development and good governance. He added that the win would accelerate overall development initiatives in the city of Mumbai.
