In another incident of a hit-and-run case, a man's body was dragged under a car for several kilometers on the Yamuna Expressway, Uttar Pradesh police said on Tuesday. Security personnel at the toll booth in Mathura's Mant spotted the body stuck to the car as it passed by on its way from Agra to Noida.
The car was driven by Virendra Singh from Delhi, who is currently being questioned by the police." There was heavy fog on the highway last night, hence the least visibility due to which the man who met with an accident got stuck with his car," said Trigun Bisen, Police Inspector, referring to the suspected accused Virendra Singh.
Virendra is being interrogated and cameras are being scanned. People in nearby villages have been prodded about his identity regarding the incident. Further investigation is on in the matter.
Similar incidents have regularly hit the headlines since the January 1 incident when 20-year-old Anjali Singh, who was riding a scooter, was found dead on the street after she was allegedly hit and dragged for several kilometers by a car driven by five youths in Outer Delhi's Kanjhawala area.
A woman was left dead in the middle of the street with her clothes ripped and torn from an alleged drag incident. A total of seven people, including five passengers in the car, were arrested following the incident.
