Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A pilgrim who fell seriously ill after arriving at Gangasagar was airlifted to Kolkata by air ambulance on Tuesday for urgent medical treatment. The patient has been identified as Ramesh Chandra, a 52-year-old resident of Uttar Pradesh, who had travelled to the pilgrimage site with his family, reports said.
According to administrative sources, Chandra suffered a heart attack while taking the holy dip at Gangasagar. He was immediately rushed to a temporary medical facility at the site, where doctors provided first aid to stabilise his condition before referring him for advanced treatment.
Given the seriousness of his condition, arrangements were swiftly made to transfer him to M.R. Bangur Hospital in Kolkata. He was airlifted by helicopter from the Gangasagar helipad without delay, ensuring timely medical intervention.
