Pankaj was attacked late night in Panabasti area as he was returning his house—allegedly stabbed over an illicit affair with the accused's wife. What began as petty marital spats over forgotten chores had snowballed into a toxic brew of doubt. Rushed first to Kalchini's Latabari Hospital and then transferred to Alipurduar District Hospital, Pankaj endured a grueling two-hours emergency surgery in midnight.
Meanwhile, upon receiving news of the incident by cops, the victim youth's mother, Savita Devi, rushed to the hospital. The accused, a Kalchini resident has been arrested.
