Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and National General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, addressed the media at Kolkata airport, providing insights into the situation of the India Alliance after Congress's defeat in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Banerjee emphasized that the public would ultimately decide the face of the alliance, be it Mamata Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, or Uddhav Thackeray.
Speaking about the impact of BJP's victories in other states on West Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee expressed his belief that Bengal elections would be fought on local issues rather than being influenced by outcomes in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, or Rajasthan. He also, without explicitly naming Congress, urged the party to "correct its mistakes."
Addressing the topic of an upper age limit in politics, Abhishek Banerjee advocated for such limits, stating that productivity tends to reduce with age. He clarified that the call for a 'New Trinamool' did not mean only younger individuals would join the party; senior leaders were equally important. Abhishek concluded by advising Congress to learn from their mistakes.
"In any case there should be an upper age limit. Everywhere seniors are needed. But what a forty-year-old youth or a fifty-year-old man can do, a seventy-eighty-year-old man cannot do. Productivity is somewhat reduced," said Abhishek.
