US Embassy sets new record: Over 90,000 student visas granted in India in three months

The US Embassy in India has reported a remarkable achievement in the issuance of student visas this summer, exceeding a total of 90,000 visas distributed during the months of June, July, and August. This development signifies a significant milestone in the educational partnership between India and the United States.

“This summer almost one in four student visas worldwide was issued right here in India! Congratulations and best wishes to all the students who have chosen the United States to make their higher education goals a reality! That’s a wrap! With teamwork and innovation, we ensured that all qualified applicants reached their programs on time,” the embassy shared a post on X.

This achievement aligns with the US Mission's earlier projections for this year's student visa applications, and it builds upon the record-breaking issuance of 125,000 student visas to Indians in the previous year, surpassing any other nationality.

With the issuance of over 90,000 student visas during the summer months, the United States appears poised to set new records. Currently, in the ongoing academic year, more than 200,000 Indian students are actively pursuing their education at American academic institutions, representing a significant portion of the international student community in the US, exceeding 20% of the total population.
