Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A helicopter carrying Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retd) made an emergency landing in Srinagar town of Pauri Garhwal district on Sunday after developing a technical problem during the flight, officials said. According to information from Pauri police, the helicopter experienced a technical issue while airborne, prompting the pilot to carry out a precautionary landing at the GVK helipad in Srinagar.
The aircraft landed safely without any injuries or damage. After landing, the Governor was escorted to the Police Guest House in Srinagar as a precautionary measure while authorities assessed the situation. Officials said the emergency landing was conducted to avoid any potential risk.
The helicopter is believed to have encountered a technical fault during the journey, leading the pilot to divert the aircraft to the nearest safe landing spot. Further inspection of the helicopter is expected to determine the exact cause of the issue.
Earlier in the day, Governor Gurmit Singh attended the four-day Himalayan O2 Tehri Lake Festival and extended greetings on International Women’s Day. The festival, inaugurated on March 6, features adventure sports, tourism-related events and programmes showcasing the region’s culture and environmental awareness.
