Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Residents of Napara village in the Purbasthali region of Purba Bardhaman staged a protest by displaying banners across the village declaring that political leaders would not be allowed to enter until corrections are made in the voter list. The announcement was made publicly by villagers associated with Booth No. 227 in the Sultanpur area of the Purbasthali South Assembly constituency.
Through the banners and a public notice, villagers warned that leaders and workers from any political party would be barred from entering the village until the voter list is amended and the names and details of residents are accurately restored. The protest was organised on Friday and quickly drew attention in the area. According to local residents, the village has more than 900 registered voters. However, they claim that the names of 138 individuals have been deleted from the voter list. The villagers alleged that the removal of these names has created widespread dissatisfaction among the residents ahead of the election process.
Residents said they would continue the protest and maintain the restriction on political entry until all the deleted names are reinstated in the voter list. They emphasised that the demand is solely focused on ensuring that the voter list accurately reflects all eligible voters of the village.
