No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Teachers working under the CSS-VSE NSQF project staged a protest march to Bikash Bhavan, alleging 12 years of deficiencies, exploitation, corruption and wastage of government funds in the implementation of the vocational education scheme. Under the banner of “Shiksha Bachao Manch”, the protesters demanded immediate reforms in the Vocationalization of School Education Policy and greater transparency and accountability in project management.
The procession began from the PNB crossing in Salt Lake and moved towards Bikash Bhavan, where tension briefly prevailed due to the gathering of demonstrators. A large police force was deployed at the site to ensure law and order and to prevent any escalation of the situation.
Members of the Teachers’ Association said the prolonged shortcomings in the project have adversely affected both educators and the quality of skill-based education. They urged the government to intervene promptly to safeguard vocational training, ensure teachers’ rightful entitlements and restore confidence in the system.
