Full state honors for Ratan Tata, one day mourning announced in Maharashtra
The BJP has disclosed its initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024, comprising 195 contestants, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to contest from Varanasi, as announced by party general secretary Vinod Tawde. Among the candidates listed are 34 central and state ministers, along with two former chief ministers, highlighting the party's strategic selection process.
The announcement also includes notable figures such as Hema Malini contesting from Mathura and Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi, while Sushma Swaraj's daughter, Basuri Swaraj, will contest from New Delhi. However, Pravesh Verma's ticket, son of Saheb Singh Verma, was canceled.
Amit Shah is set to contest from Gandhinagar, while other candidates include Sanjay Seth from Ranchi, Annapurna Devi from Koderma, and Arjun Munda from Khunti. Smriti Irani to contest Lok Sabha election from Amethi,Dr. Rathin Chakraborty from Howrah, Locket Chatterjee from Hooghly. Additionally, singer Pawan Singh will be contesting from Asansol, Soumendu Adhikari from Kanti, and Nishith Pramanik from Cooch Behar, among others. Notably, Pragya Singh Thakur's ticket was canceled, and Om Birla secures a ticket from Kota.
