WB Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik arrested !

In a significant development, Jyotipriya Mallik, the former Food Minister and current Forest Minister of West Bengal, has been arrested by the Central Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a ration distribution rigging case.

The arrest followed more than 20 hours of searches and interrogation, during which it is alleged that Mallik attempted to mislead the investigating officers and evade questions. ED officials confirmed the arrest, stating that it was made on grounds of non-cooperation in the investigation.

The ED had conducted a raid at Mallik's residence on Thursday morning, focusing on two flats in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata and searching other locations, including the residence of his former personal assistant in Dumdum. A businessman named Bakibur Rahman has also been arrested in connection with the case.

Jyotipriya Mallik was taken into custody and is expected to be presented in court after being transported to the ED office at CGO Complex, under the protection of central forces. While entering the CGO complex, Mallik expressed that he believed he was a victim of a serious conspiracy.

This arrest marks a significant development in a high-profile case that has gained much attention in West Bengal. It reflects ongoing tensions and political rivalries in the state.
