WB Governor CV Anand Bose visits Belur Math, collects Ganges water for Kochi

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose visited Belur Math on Friday, the morning of Chaitra Sankranti, to hand over an urn filled with Gangajal to the sages of Kochi Ramakrishna Mission.

The Ganges water, collected from Matru Ghat of Belur Math, will be sent to Kochi in South India as a part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of Ramakrishna Mission Kochi Center. Swami Bhubanatmanand, the head of Kochi Ashram, and other members of the Ashram Trust were present during the symbolic ceremony.

The Governor collected the water from Ganga Ghat of Maa Sarada Devi of Belur Math to inaugurate the auspicious occasion.

The Governor's visit came a few days before the convocation ceremony of the 125th foundation day of Belur Math, where he is expected to be present at Ramakrishna Mission Balaram Temple. This is not the first time that the Governor has visited Belur Math. He had visited the place a few days back with President Draupadi Murmu, during which special arrangements were made for their safety, and the entry of common devotees was banned from morning till 10 pm.

The sages of Kochi Ramakrishna Mission expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his initiative in collecting the Gangajal and handing it over to them. The sacred vessel filled with Ganges water will be kept in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ramakrishna temple located in Kochi Ashram.
