IMD warns of severe storms, hail, and heavy rain across Bengal; IPL opener at risk
The scorching heat continues to wreak havoc in various parts of the state, including Kolkata. The regional headquarters of the Meteorological Department in Alipore reported that the minimum temperature recorded in Kolkata on Monday was 30 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature reached close to 39 degrees Celsius. This humid heat is causing significant discomfort for residents.
The high temperatures are not limited to Kolkata. Other parts of the state, including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura, are also experiencing temperatures ranging between 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, contributing to the intense heatwave.
Residents across these regions are struggling to cope with the extreme weather conditions, as the heatwave shows no signs of abating. While the sun seems to be on a mission to outshine itself, locals are left wondering if they should start packing for an early monsoon vacation. Until then, stay hydrated, wear your sunscreen and stay cool.
