Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
In a meeting held in Burdwan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged support for deserving teachers who lost their jobs, denouncing the Mamata government's alleged involvement in a teacher recruitment scam.
Modi asserted, "TMC is jeopardizing the future of your children by orchestrating a scam in teacher recruitment. Over 25,000 teachers were dismissed by the court. Those who played with the future of your children should not be spared! SSC scam reveals the true character of TMC leaders. I will not spare those who looted the people of Bengal, this is Modi’s guarantee. BJP stands with you."
Responding to Modi's remarks, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee retorted from a meeting in East Bardhaman, questioning Modi's absence when it comes to addressing the need for teachers.
"We will not let people their jobs, we are fighting in court. Where was Modi babu? Your (BJP) party has eaten away 26000 jobs. You don't need teachers. They (BJP) will kiss frogs and then snakes too! They will snatch away your job, then claim we stand by your side. 10000 jobs were cancelled during CPM regime in Tripura. You (PM Modi) promised to return those jobs, did you? You recollect these things only during elections, hitting people on their painful nerve."
These remarks comes after Calcutta High Court recently, scrapped off 26,000 teachers jobs.
