Why have Mobile phones been banned within 200 metre of Char Dham sites?

In a move to maintain the sanctity and safety of the iconic Chardham sites, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has announced a ban on mobile phone usage within 200 meters of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri Dhams. This decision aims to create an atmosphere of peace and spiritual connection for pilgrims visiting these holy sites.

The state government reported that as of May 14, 26.73 lakh people have registered online to undertake the yatra to the four shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Additionally, over 1.24 lakh people have registered through offline means.

The Garhwal Divisional Commissioner stated on Wednesday that 11 people have died so far during the Char Dham Yatra, which began on May 10 in Uttarakhand.
