Tharoor highlights Ahmedabad's increasing prominence and suggests allocating matches to Kerala
In a recent development following the announcement of the schedule for the 2023 Men's ODI Cricket World Cup, opposition leaders have raised concerns over the decision to prioritize matches at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Both the opening match and the final will be held at the renowned venue, sparking a political controversy.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Punjab MP Manish Tewari have questioned the exclusion of Mohali, which hosted the highly anticipated India-Pakistan semi-final in 2011.
Tharoor, in a tweet, expressed disappointment over the omission of Thiruvananthapuram's SportsHub, regarded as one of the best cricket stadiums in India.
He questioned the allocation of matches, highlighting the growing prominence of Ahmedabad as the new cricket capital of the country and suggesting that a few matches could have been allotted to Kerala.
