West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has refuted claims that she spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah four times on the phone.
The allegations were made by a BJP leader who claimed that Mamata called Shah and requested him not to remove the Trinamool Congress' All India Party tag. Speaking to the media at the state secretariat, Mamata challenged anyone to prove the claims, stating that she would step down from her post if they were true.
Mamata also addressed the recent return of BJP MLA Mukul Roy to the Trinamool Congress, stating that Roy's decision to go to Delhi was his own and had nothing to do with the party or herself. She also criticized the Centre's order regarding Aadhaar card verification in the border areas of North and South 24 Parganas of West Bengal, stating that she would not allow the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state.
Furthermore, Mamata launched a scathing attack on the BJP, stating that those involved in the Centre have no morality. She condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent speech during his tour of Bengal, where he talked about toppling the government. Mamata strongly denounced such actions and remarks.
