Woman accused of severing husband's genitals over alleged affair in Murshidabad

In a shocking incident in the Pecherpada area of Domkal, Murshidabad, a woman allegedly severed her husband’s genitals following a heated confrontation over his alleged extramarital affair. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, leaving the victim, Hasanur Sheikh, in critical condition.  

According to police sources, the accused woman, a mother of two, had been in a strained relationship with Hasanur since their marriage. Hasanur’s affair with another woman had reportedly been the root cause of the growing discord. Family members and neighbors stated that the couple frequently fought over this issue, with tensions escalating over time.  

Late Saturday night, while Hasanur was asleep, his wife allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, severing his genitals. Hasanur’s screams alerted neighbors, who rushed to his aid and found him in a severely injured and blood-soaked state. He was immediately taken to Domkal Super Specialty Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Murshidabad Medical College for further treatment.  

The accused woman fled the scene after the incident, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend her. Investigations are underway to uncover further details about the case.  

This is the second incident of its kind in West Bengal within a week. Just days ago, in Howrah, a woman was accused of mutilating her ex-boyfriend’s genitals under similar circumstances.  

Authorities are urging people to report domestic violence or seek counseling before disputes escalate to such extreme acts.
