Woman accused promoter in Chitpur area of beating and tearing her clothes

A local promoter was accused of beating a woman in Kolkata's Chitpur. Allegedly, the woman was beaten for occupying her house and preventing her from promoting on that land. It is also alleged that the woman was verbally abused and her clothes were torn. The complainant claimed that the promoter used to identify himself as close to the local MLA and Deputy Mayor of Kolkata Atin Ghosh in the area.

The affected woman complained that Uttam Halder, a local promoter, was promoting a part of their land. It is also alleged that he claimed some part of the remaining land.

The cops of Chitpur police station came to the spot after receiving the information. Later, the woman lodged a written complaint with the police station in the name of Uttam and a few others.

Trinamool spokesperson Shantanu Sen said, "There is a big difference between an allegation and being found guilty." But Trinamool in no way supports such an event. Evidence of this has been found in various incidents in the past. The administration will investigate the complaint impartially. If anyone is found guilty in the investigation, they will take appropriate action against him. The whole matter is subject to investigation.”
