Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A shocking allegation of gang rape has emerged from Harirampur in South Dinajpur district, intensifying tensions in poll-bound West Bengal. A housewife has accused her neighbours of assaulting her after her husband was taken away by the police. The incident, which reportedly took place on Wednesday night, has triggered both administrative action and political reactions, with police confirming that an investigation is underway.
According to the complaint, the woman had recently constructed a new house, which had led to an ongoing dispute with neighbouring residents. The neighbours allegedly claimed that the house had been built on disputed land, resulting in escalating tensions over the past few days. On the night of the incident, after a complaint was lodged by neighbours, police detained the woman’s husband and took him away from the house.
The victim has alleged that soon after her husband was taken away, the accused forcibly entered her home and carried out the assault. Following the incident, she was taken to the police station with the help of local political representatives, where a written complaint was filed with the Superintendent of Police. Police have registered a case and stated that the matter is being investigated, though no arrests have been made so far.
The case has taken a political turn, with allegations that the accused are linked to the ruling party, a claim that has been denied. Further controversy has arisen due to a discrepancy in the complaint regarding the date of the incident, which mentioned Thursday instead of Wednesday. While opposition leaders have raised concerns, the ruling party has questioned the timing of the allegation. The victim, however, has maintained that the error was unintentional, and police have assured that all aspects are being thoroughly examined.
