Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A 45-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a train near Domjur station in Howrah on Friday morning, exposing severe negligence by the railway authorities. The deceased, identified as Mintu Ger, was struck by the Amta local near pole number two of the Howrah-Amta branch around 9:30 am.
Despite the fatal accident, the body remained on the tracks for more than three hours. Shockingly, the victim’s family was reportedly asked to bear the expenses for transporting the body. Meanwhile, several trains continued to pass over the spot, further worsening the situation.
It was only after repeated complaints from locals that the police from Jagatballabhpur police station arrived and recovered the body. The incident has sparked outrage over the railways’ apathy and the inhuman treatment of the victim’s remains.
