The body of a woman, Nafisa Khatun, was discovered in a horrific condition inside her residence in Rajendra Prasad Colony, near Golf Green police station, Kolkata, on Wednesday evening. Nafisa, in her forties, was found with deep wounds on her neck, leading authorities to suspect she was murdered with a sharp weapon.
The incident came to light when Nafisa's mother, unable to locate her daughter since the afternoon, forced open the door of the locked house. Inside, she found the blood-soaked body of her daughter under the bed, the room splattered with blood. The gruesome discovery has left the neighborhood in shock.
Rajendra Prasad Colony, a densely populated area, is reeling from the murder, which occurred just a short distance from Golf Green police station. Law enforcement officials, including detectives from Lalbazar’s Homicide Branch, have cordoned off the crime scene and sent the body for an autopsy.
The police have launched an investigation, treating the case as a possible homicide. While initial findings suggest that the victim was struck with a sharp weapon, the motive and the perpetrator remain unknown. Investigators are interviewing neighbors and searching for leads to unravel the case.
