Woman, her daughter rescued from human trafficking, two arrested in Bengal

In a shocking case of human trafficking, a 24-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were rescued by the district police from Delhi after being sold off and forced into prostitution. The incident came to light when the victim's family filed a missing person's report on 5th November 2022.

According to the police, the victim was befriended over the phone by a person who identified himself as Saddam. He promised her marriage and a good life, and she fell into his trap. However, he trafficked her to Delhi along with her child, where she was sold off and forced into prostitution.

After the case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), West Bengal, the investigation began in full swing. The team used digital data and source information to track down the traffickers, and on the evening of 11th March 2023, they held a raid at the Sealdah Railway Station/Kultali Police Station area.

Two traffickers, identified as Samsul Sk alias Saddam (38 years) and Abadulla Mondal (26 years), both hailing from Kultali Police Station, South 24 Parganas district, were arrested during the raid. They had procured the victim and sold her off in Delhi.

Both accused are being forwarded to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Diamond Harbour with a prayer for TI Parade. The police are investigating the matter further, and more arrests are expected in the case.
