Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
In a spine-chilling incident that has left rail passengers reeling, a brave woman fighting back against chain snatchers on the moving Dhauli Express lost her right arm after being brutally pushed off the train near Bhogpur station near Kharagpur. Surma Hazra, who was heading to Rourkela with her family, became the victim of two bold snatchers who boarded the train and tried to grab valuables from passengers. When she resisted fiercely, the snatchers dragged her to the door and shoved her out while the train was speeding at over 60 kmph.
The impact was horrific – her arm got caught and severed completely against the tracks, turning a routine journey into a nightmare of blood and screams. The chaos unfolded inside the general coach around midday, with other passengers joining the scuffle to stop the robbers. But the snatchers overpowered Surma and hurled her out near Bhogpur village in Kolaghat police area. As the train pulled away, the duo jumped off and fled into the nearby fields, sparking immediate outrage among villagers who chased them down.
Local residents caught the fleeing men, beat them badly, and held them until Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Panskura police arrived. The quick action led to both suspects' arrest, and now they're being grilled to uncover if they have accomplices in a larger gang targeting trains.Surma was rushed to Kharagpur Railway Hospital in critical condition, where doctors confirmed she has lost her right hand permanently due to the severe cut from the fall. Her family is shattered, demanding better security like more RPF patrols and CCTV in coaches. This shocking event has once again exposed the dangers lurking in Indian trains, where snatchers strike fearlessly, and passengers pay the price for simply standing up for themselves.
