Woman's body found hidden under bed in Bengal; Police suspect family members

Police in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district have recovered the body of a middle-aged woman from her own home. The body was found wrapped in a blanket, hidden under a bed, in the Gobardanga area. The brutal nature of the crime, combined with the fact that the body was concealed within her residence, has led police to suspect the involvement of someone known to the victim.

The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Mithu Dutta. According to police records, Mithu's husband had gone missing from their home approximately a decade ago. Since his disappearance, she had been living with her two sons in the same house. The family's circumstances had changed a few years ago when Mithu's brother-in-law, who had left his wife and children, moved in to live with her and his two nephews.

The grim sequence of events began on Thursday night, when Mithu suddenly went missing from the house. Her two sons searched for her frantically but were unable to find any trace of their mother. It wasn't until Tuesday morning that the mystery began to unravel, when the boys noticed a strong and unpleasant stench emanating from their mother's room.

Alarmed by the foul smell, the sons immediately informed the local police station in Gobardanga. Officers arrived at the scene and, upon inspection, made the horrifying discovery of Mithu's body concealed under a bed. The body was wrapped in a blanket and bore severe injury marks on the head, suggesting she was bludgeoned with a heavy object. Her face had been smashed, indicating the brutality of the attack.

The police have stated that the nature of the crime points towards a murder committed by someone close to the victim. The fact that the body was hidden within the house suggests that the perpetrator had easy access and was comfortable with the surroundings. This has made the deceased's family members the prime suspects in the case.
