Sodepur flyover to shut every weekend from July 19 for urgent structural repairs
A man and woman were found dead in a pool of blood early Thursday in Hooghly’s Baidyabati, prompting an investigation that led to the arrest of two individuals, including the woman’s former partner. The incident occurred around 3 am in the Sitaram Bagan area under Ward No. 18. The deceased were identified as Manish Bhaduri (35), a casting factory worker, and Aparna Majhi (32), a domestic help. According to local residents, screams were heard from the house shortly before the bodies were discovered.
Police from Shrirampur station arrived at the scene and found Manish lying injured inside the house, while Aparna was outside, both covered in blood. They were taken to Shrirampur Walsh Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The couple had reportedly been living together in the rented house for the past three years. Following the deaths, DCP Arnab Biswas, ACP Shubhankar Biswas, and the Officer-in-Charge of Shrirampur police station visited the spot. Police also began examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Based on initial investigation, police arrested two people in connection with the deaths. One of the accused is Arjun Roy, who was previously in a relationship with Aparna. Both suspects were produced in Shrirampur court on Friday. The case remains under investigation to determine the sequence of events and possible motive.
