The news of the opening of a World Trade Center office in Kolkata has been making headlines, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has now confirmed that the construction of the World Trade Center in the state will create employment for 30,000 people. During a meeting with industrialists at the state secretariat Nabanna on Wednesday, the CM announced that the World Trade Center is a significant achievement for Bengal.
At the Industrial Promotional Board meeting, the CM revealed that the World Trade Center will be constructed soon in Kolkata. On March 21, the state government will sign an agreement with a private institution for this purpose. However, the CM has not disclosed which organization will undertake the construction or its location.
The CM stated that an investment of Rs 1,500 crore would be made in the state through the World Trade Center, which will occupy 35,000 square feet of land. According to sources, a delegation from the World Trade Center will visit Kolkata on March 21 to sign the agreement with the state government. The World Trade Center will facilitate trade not only within the country but also internationally, making it a valuable addition for Kolkata, which was selected from the Purvanchal states of India.
Additionally, the CM has directed the opening of a Data Research Center in Silicon Valley located in Rajarhat Newtown. The CM has instructed the State Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi to prepare for the rapidly changing times and advanced technology and to assign the task of building a data research center to the best individuals.
The CM has also warned that those who have taken land in the name of setting up industry in Silicon Valley but left it vacant after registering it in their name will face action from the government. They must either set up the industry or forfeit the land. Finally, the CM has directed the allocation of land to build a toy park in Belud. Although there are existing toy parks in Haldia, the growing industry requires additional toy hubs in Belud and New Town, adjacent to Kolkata.
